This manual illustrates the early style water pump, leg, tank and power head with no roller rod bearings and no bleeder. There were basically two lower leg versions and this is the first.

To summarize the variations:

1. Two lower legs: early non 360 degree, and late 360 with shift mechanism
2. Two lower units: non shift with early pump, and late with shift and late pump.
3. Power head: early without roller bearings, late with roller bearings and bleeder.
4. 3 Tanks: Early non rewind, mid push button rewind, late with auto rewind.

This manual is for the fiberglass hooded 12hp "key adjustable" motor made from 1955 through 1959. Produced with only minor changes, this 1958 example should be a good representative for the entire series.
